Rokid RV101 Translation: Online, Offline and Phone Checks

Relia Group

Planning to use Rokid RV101 for a conversation while travelling? Start with the language pair and the phone you will carry. A display, an app connection and an offline language pack answer different questions.

This guide explains what to check before buying, then gives you a short practice routine for before you leave.

What appears in the glasses?

Rokid Glasses RV101 has a built-in display. Rokid's translation guide describes spoken translation appearing as text in that display. Select the source and target languages in the companion app; the available experience depends on the software, region and selected mode. See Rokid's translation instructions.

If you are comparing models, our RV101 versus RV203 guide explains the display distinction. Check the exact model rather than choosing by the words “AI glasses” alone.

Online and offline need separate checks

  • Online: check your language pair, service availability and the network access you expect to have.
  • Offline: check whether your phone can download the required language pack, then complete preparation before relying on it away from a connection.
  • In both cases: check the current app and firmware, plus any service or subscription requirements shown for your account.

Rokid's FAQ says offline use requires initial app pairing and activation, followed by downloading the required language model. Its current troubleshooting guidance also identifies a separate phone-hardware requirement for offline-pack downloads: chips older than Apple's A18 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are not supported. Confirm your exact phone and the current download options in the app; successful pairing alone does not establish offline eligibility. Read Rokid's current FAQ.

“Offline” is therefore a feature to prepare and verify for your setup. It is not a promise that every language or every connected phone works without internet access. This guide does not promise phone-free translation.

A five-minute preparation routine

  1. Write down the real conversation. For example, choosing a meal or asking a short travel question. Identify both languages and the direction you need.
  2. Check the exact combination. Note RV101, your phone model, operating system, app version and destination. Use the language list actually shown in your app.
  3. Finish downloads at home. If offline mode is available for your setup, complete the required downloads on a reliable connection.
  4. Practise with a willing partner. Try a few short sentences. Check that the displayed text is comfortable to read and that you know how to stop the session.
  5. Check the fallback. Try the mode you intend to use in the conditions you expect. If a required pack is unavailable, plan for online access or another translation method.

For a useful practice conversation, include a name, a number and a phrase you genuinely expect to say. Confirm those details with the speaker rather than assuming a translated sentence is exact. Explain what the glasses are doing and ask before recording anyone.
